Candlelight protest held in JNU

Srinagar: The Committee for the Release of Political Prisoners and Democratic Students Union on Saturdayjointly organized a peaceful candle light protest in New Delhi’s Jawaharlal University in remembrance of Kashmiri leaders Mohammad Maqbool Butt and Mohammad Afzal Guru.
Reports said the vigil led by Kashmiri professor SAR Gilani which was attended by the Kashmiri students and other intellectuals and professors in the camps demanded return of mortal remains of Bhat and Guru from Tihar Jail. Bhat and Guru were hanged and buried in the Tihar on February 11, 1984, and February 9, 2013, respectively.
Gilani while talking to reporters said Bhat and Guru’s death was against humanity and justice, adding that he will continue to raise voice against this injustice. He urged to civil societies and peace loving people to raise voice to return of mortal remains of the duo.
He called upon nuclear powers to resolve the Kashmir dispute for ensuring peace, economic prosperity of the region and demanded resolution of the Kashmir dispute as per the Kashmiris’ aspirations.
