Furture Sports T-20 tournament

SRINAGAR: Thanks to a half century from Asif Khan and Riyaz Ahmad’s three wicket haul, Ghani Gliders trounced a Delhi based cricket club by 60 runs in the finals to pocket Future Sports T-20 tournament played at Delhi.
Batting first visitors GG put a daunting total of 175 on the board losing five wickets in their 20 overs. Middle order batsman Asif Khan was the successful batsman scoring 71 runs. He made Delhi bowlers to toil hard and took full advantage of their wayward bowling performance slamming shots in every direction of the ground. He was ably supported by Ulfat Fushu who scored a valuable 38, and Jahangir Lone also contributed 22 runs.
In reply host Delhi were bundled out for a paltry total of 115 runs. Delhi were never in the game as they lost wickets at the regular intervals. None of their batsmen was able to put a decent show upfront as GG bowlers Riyaz Ahmed maintained a tight line and length and did not allow Delhi batsmen to open their shoulders , taking three wickets. Irfan Dar, Jahangir lone and left arm spinner Amir Aziz bagged two wickets each.
Asif Khan for his 71 run knock was declared man of the match. Riyaz Ahmed bagged highest wicket taker award in the match.
The owner of the Ghani Gliders team Tariq Rashid Ghani congratulated the players on their brilliant performance in the finals. He said, “It is a proud moment for all of us that a team from the J&K has lifted the trophy outside the state.”
“This shows that J&K players have lot of talent and can compete at any level,” adding that the team was going to Pune to participate in another t-20 tournament.
