PAMPORE: Abdul Majid Wani, a well know businessman here, was Tuesday elected as president of the All Saffron Growers Development Marketing Cooperative Association.
The election was held at Saffron Forum, Dusoo here after the previous president completed his tenure of three year.
The contest for the post of president was held between Ghulam Nabi Reshi, Ghulam Hassan Rather and Abdul Majid Wani.
Out of 247 votes casted Wani received 239 votes, 95 percent.
While as his opponents Reshi and Rather secured five and three votes respectively.
Wani was earlier general secretary of the association.
After the landmark victory, Wani said he will work for the promotion and better marketing of the world famous spice, which will benefit the growers and business community of the area.
