NC lauds CM’s initiative on new administrative units

JAMMU: Lauding the initiative of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah towards creating of new administrative units at Sub-Division, Tehsil, Niabat and Blocks level in Jammu and Kashmir, Provincial President National Conference Devender Singh Rana on Tuesday said the step will go a long way in satiating the aspirations of the people and bringing administration at their door steps.
“Keeping in view the rapid growth in population, the exercise to create new administrative units was long over due”, Rana said in a statement while eulogizing the Chief Minister for realizing this crucial need and taking appropriate measures to have these in place in right earnest at the earliest.
The Provincial President described the move as second most important milestone of the coalition government after the successful conduct of Panchayati elections and said the new administrative units will help in mitigating the sufferings of the people especially in remote and far off areas and shall make administration more responsive to their needs.
Rana said the recommendations of the Dr. Bloeria and Mushtaq Ahmad Committee are on the basis of a vast administrative exercise conducted after thorough discussion with the cross section of the people of the state giving opportunity to different sections of the society to express their views on the crucial issue and final report so made keeping the administrative requirements in mind and public opinion in hand is an exercise which when implemented will play an important role in creating public delivery mechanism by effective administrative setup.
The Provincial President hoped that the recommendations of the Committee report on new administrative units will be beneficial for the people living in far-off places. The difficult geographical terrain and allied constraints have been coming in the way of people in registering their grievances and seeking redressal to the problems at appropriate fora well in time, he observed and said that creation of new units will bridge this gap between the people and the administration.
