Srinagar: Srinagar Municipal Corporation Friday launched a two day special sanitation-cum-awareness drive from Boulevard to Foreshore Road here.
The drive is aimed at educating and sensitizing people in general and the households and various business establishments including shopkeepers, hoteliers’ of the area in particular, to make proper use of the smart bins and do away with the littering of their surroundings, a statement said.
During the drive at least ten more additional smart bins were installed at the various spots on boulevard for the improvisation of sanitation, it said.
“The food garbage which is thrown at open space serves prey to stray dogs as a result of which the dogs become visible and unleash terror on humans. Thus the locals were educated through public a public addressing system to refrain from throwing any kind of food garbage at open spaces,” the statement added.
At least ten  such people were prosecuted who were spotted throwing garbage on roadside.
