JAMMU: A member of state Legislative Council Friday alleged that the state government is shielding a higher official accused of corruption for his relation to a minister.
Syed Mohammad Rafiq Shah, a Panthers Party MLC in a query asked that a retired chief Engineer, Mir Najeebullah, who is related to former Minister PHE and Irrigation and
Flood Control (I&FC), Taj Mohiddin, was re-employed and made director of CCDU in PHE Department “ despite swindling crores of rupees.”
In response, Minister for PHE and I&FC, Sham Lal Sharma said that the department has no knowledge about the relation of Executive Director, CCDU and former Minister of PHE and I&FC Department. “However, a retired Chief Engineer, I&FC Kashmir was re-employed as Executive Director, CCDU on the recommendations of the Water Sanitation and Support Organisation vide government order No 340-PW (Hyd) of 2011 dated September 8, 2011,” the minister said.
However, the reply infuriated the member who came into the well and raised slogans, ‘uncover the thieves’, ‘This is the murder of justice and democracy’ and demanded a house committee to
look into the matter.
